Underwater Wonders of La Jolla Shores

La Jolla Shores is a popular spot for shore diving in San Diego, California. Diving off a commercial boat in San Diego or the Channel Islands offers unique experiences. The Channel Islands, located off California’s coast, boast diverse marine life and unique underwater environments. Exploring from a commercial boat allows access to remote dive sites. These boats offer various dive packages. Whether in San Diego or the Channel Islands, both options promise unforgettable diving adventures. You will find everything from sharks to bony fish to a wide variety of invertebrates. These are our La Jolla Shores underwater photos of beach diving and the animals you will encounter. These include the La Jolla Shores Leopard Sharks.

La Jolla Shores

La Jolla Shores is a place where instructors from local dive shops bring students for their open water dives. On a weekend there will be a lot of divers entering and exiting the waterIit is important to practice your buoyancy skills so you don’t kick up a lot of sand and ruin the underwater visibility.

La Jolla Shores is also a great place to spend time before and after your dive with a large grass area for suiting up before the dive or having a picnic after. It has nice restroom and shower facilities and a great play area for the kids.

Here are some photos from my dives in the park.

Animals you will encounter

La Jolla Shores Leopard Sharks

To see and photograph the Leopard Sharks all will need is a mask and a snorkel. You will find them in the summer in shallow water. Just float along the surface without making any sudden movements and the sharks will swim right under you. July and August seem to be the best months to see them.
