We camp at the Jumbo Campground.

The next day, from the KOA in Montrose, we a did short day trip and drove from Montrose to Delta and then up Highway 65 onto the Grand Mesa. It’s called the Grand Mesa Scenic Byway. It was the peak color for the area and the Aspen Trees were really putting on a show. The mesa is 10,000 to 11,500 feet in elevation and is just gorgeous. We did a hike at the Mesa Lakes Recreation Area and liked it so much that we went back the next year and spent 9 days there. ,(See our California to Minnesota blog)

Lorna’s Tips and Lessons

Others have been surprised when they see our portable ice maker, but we don’t have to rough it. Since we both like ice in our drinks, this makes sure we never run out. I guess this is what some would call glamping.
