Adventures in Anza Borrego State Park

Experience the ultimate spring escape! Our recent Borrego Springs camping trip in Anza Borrego State Park was an absolute dream come true. From a stunning wildflower bloom to breathtaking desert views, we were in awe of the beauty that surrounded us. We visited the Coyote Canyon wildflower fields and took a drive out Coyote Canyon for a couple of miles. The flowers mixed with the cholla were amazing. Borrego Palm Canyon Campground is where we normally stay. Borrego Palm Canyon photos are a great way to remember your trip.

The park’s sheer size, encompassing over 600,000 acres, allows for endless exploration and discovery. From the iconic metal sculptures dotting the desert floor to the stunning wildflower blooms that paint the landscape in vibrant hues during the spring, every corner of the park is filled with wonders waiting to be explored. With numerous designated campgrounds and the option for backcountry camping, visitors can choose between a more developed setting with amenities or a secluded, rudimentary experience. We have done both, camping at Arroyo Salado dry sites and Palm Canyon in both their dry and full hook-up sites. Anza Borrego Desert State Park camping is a must.

We hiked through Palm Canyon, there were more flowers in Palm Canyon than I’ve seen before, and while the parking lot did fill up on Sat and Sun. it wasn’t overly crowded. There was a lot of water coming down out of Palm Canyon and flowing across the desert floor before it disappeared into the sand.

Palm Canyon

The trailhead for the Palm Canyon hike is located in the Borrego Palm Canyon Campground. It is a great 2-mile out and back hike up to the Palm Oasis or there is a 2.9-mile loop trail. Borrego Palm Canyon photos are a must.

We got unique photographs of our granddaughter in front of a metal sculpture that we’ve photographed since she was 2.

We finished off the weekend with dinner at the Red Ocotillo restaurant that we enjoy once in a while. It is right off of the traffic in town.
